I don’t know about you but I LOVE to find new products and things to play around with.  I have been thinking lately about doing cupcake and cake toppers but wanted something that lasts forever and is a little bit easier to work with than polymer clay.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I love using polymer clay but sometimes I can have difficulties with kneading it and getting it ready to use.  Honestly, I don’t always have the patience so I’m really excited that I found this new product called ClayCraft by DECO clay!  It’s soft, it’s pliable, it dries on its own without an oven and just look above at the gorgeous final product.  The possibilities seem endless and I can’t wait to get some to try it out!  Check out their site for product information, ordering, and galleries of all the amazing things you can do with this stuff!

You can also follow the link here to a video and tutorial on Martha Stewart!  Happy crafting everyone!

Pink and green are probably one of my favorite color combinations.  The thing is, there are soooo many different shades of green and pink that the color possibilities are endless.  So I guess as a sub-favorite color combo olive green and salmon pink is my favorite.  I saw an apron that had a brocade pattern in olive green on top of a salmon pink color and I thought it was a beautiful and interesting combo.  What are some of your favorites?  This spring I’m going to try and combine more of my favorites in some of my work as opposed to just admiring them!

Here are some things I’ve had my hand in lately that I’m trying to work out the kinks on/make better.  Sometimes it’s hard when you feel like you’ve spent most of your day working on a craft project or new idea and then you just think of ways to make it better.  On the other hand, it’s good to know that you can continually grow and get better.  Does that ever happen to you?  How do you stay motivated when you’re just working on prototypes?  Really, when it comes down to it, we do it for the love of craft anyway!  Hope you’re having a great St. Patrick’s Day!

Ahhh…the sweet, sweet smell of spring is lingering in the air!  Minnesota winters can feel long and rough, so when I can sense spring around the corner it is all I think about.  Naturally, those thoughts are going to spill over into most aspects of craft.  Doing a little searching, I found some great pieces in embroidery work that remind me of spring, here they are for your viewing pleasure!

To kick things off we have this absolutely adorable embroidery pattern from ALittleSweetness.  One of my greatest memories was hanging our laundry outside and having my clothes smell like the sun.  Since I live in an apartment now, I’ll have to live vicariously through this sweet pattern.  The quilt alone would be reason enough to love this pattern, but it all works so well together!  Take a look at her shop for more patterns and some precious fabric.  You can also check out her blog here.

Embroidery isn’t strictly relegated to the hoop, as we can see in these awesome mushroom sculptures.  Lovely World Handmade has done such a great job combining different fabrics and patterns with some excellent stitching.  The sweet little stitches under the mushrooms and that little bit of lace shows such nice attention to detail.  If only these mushrooms existed in my backyard…..how magical!  Swing on by her blog to check out more!

This piece by September House just screams spring!  From the colors to the beautiful flower, I can’t get enough!  I love the color combinations she chose and the hoop is perfect with it.  It’s just a bright ray of sunshine in my day when the days are still cold and grey.  She also offers some fantastic patterns in her shop that I know you will love!  Check out her blog for more from September House!

Oh spring……I can’t wait until we meet again!  Let me know if you have any suggestions for any embroidery artists you would like to see showcased or any trends/themes you would also like to see highlighted.  I love being shown new things and getting inspired by all the great artists out there!

Woohoo!  It is 51 degrees, the sun is shining and the birds are singing.  Spring to me means going for long walks by the lake, sweatshirts, and the smell of rain.  Maybe more importantly, spring dresses!  I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for some new ones that I would like this season and I found these:

This one is from Old Navy and I think it’s precious.  I think it looks really comfortable and…it’s only 20 bones!  Holy Smokes!
Betsey Johnson Official Store, BTSY-8451 Bouquet Print Poplin Corset Top Dress, betseyjohnson.com

This is a hot little Betsey Johnson number!  I love her style and designs, she is such a fun designer and her pieces last forever.

Finally, this one from the Gap might be my favorite.  It looks like it could be super versatile and go from season to season.  Cute in the summer with some sandals, but you could also layer with some leggings and riding boots and a great sweater. I don’t know about you but I need to get some shopping done stat!

Butter Corn

Today at work a woman came in with a beautiful lilac shirt and butter yellow pea coat and I thought it was a great, refreshing color combo.  This particular winter feels as though it is taking FOREVER to be over, and I know spring is just around the corner so I am mentally preparing early!  Sometimes turning to the simplest things like flowers or the yummy stuff you put on your toast produces great color combination ideas.  Thinking about it this way forces me to stop and really look at the things around me and observe.  The world around us is a crafty place I’ll tell ya!  Ahhh just looking at these colors gets me so excited for spring!  What are some of your favorite color combos?
